How To Find The Perfect Natural Hair Stylist
Finding a natural hair stylist is not hard, but finding YOUR natural hair stylist can be a headache for sure. Below are some tips on things you need to do and questions you need to ask to find your Natural Hair Stylist Match.
1. Search for a natural hair stylist on google and on Instagram! Instagram and google are great ways to see a natural hair stylist's work and to get to know them as a person. On google people will leave reviews that give you a peek into a stylist's professional behavior and on Instagram you will see the stylist's portfolio.
2. Go to a consultation. Now we know that many naturalistas are against consultations but there isn't a better way to get to know a natural hair stylist! Would you rather sit with someone you don't like for 3 hours and hate your hair style or spend $25 for 30 minutes and save yourself time and the heartache. I prefer the latter. The consultation is where you ask your question. Do you normally have a wait? How much are your add-ons? Do you work alone or do you have an assistant? Do you have a rewards program? What styles do you specialize in? Does my hair feel dry? Do you eat pizza? Anything! You need to ask these questions because they will all tell you whether yourself and this stylist will get along. Sometimes stylist have talent but they have no personality, no professionalism, or they are just too strange. Why? They are people. You are starting a relationship with this stylist that could last for years so take your take and make sure you are making the right choice before diving in or it could cost you your hair, money, and sanity!
3. Call the salon. The first phone call you have with a salon or stylist can tell you a lot about them. Is the call professional? Did they put you on hold? Did they have answers to your questions? Did you receive a call back? The answer to these questions will let you know if they are too busy, patient, or even nice. Give it a try!
